Twitch is a streaming service founded in 2011 and used by gamers to showcase their talents to a live audience. Live streaming games have grown steadily in recent years. Even with eSports, game streaming services like Twitch, Mixer, and YouTube Gaming are becoming more popular than ever.

How to Stream on Twitch
In this article, we will show you how to stream on Twitch using OBS, a free streaming app.

1. How to Stream on Twitch Using Open Broadcaster

The cheapest way to stream on Twitch is to use Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. This software is also fully compatible with Windows 10, although to use it is not as easy as Xsplit.

Configure Twitch Streams

- Right-click on OBS and select Run as Administrator if you are using Windows.

- Click File > Settings and select the Streams tab on the left side.

- Select Twitch from the Streaming Service drop-down list.

- On the tv control panel, select Settings > Stream Lock > Display Lock, agree to the warning prompt not to share the key with others.

- Copy and paste the Stream Key into the Stream Key box in the Streaming Settings menu, then click Apply.

Prepare your broadcast layout

Once the Twitch stream is configured, it's time to think about the aesthetics of the stream. Do you want to include graphics? Would you like to include a Picture-in-Picture mode to show your webcam and your reaction while playing? There are many options available and it all depends on the taste of the user.

- In OBS, right-click on the source box and click Add > Game Capture.

- Select 'Create New' and click OK.

- Select 'Capture Specific Window' in the Mode menu, then select a game from the Window menu. It is possible that certain games must be running in the background before OBS can detect them.

- Ignore and enable/disable any other options you want to include, then click OK to save the settings.

- If you want to include other sources, you can do that too. Right-click in the Source box and add other elements, from Video Recorder (live webcam), Screen Capture (everything on screen), to plain text and images.

- After adding all the sources, you can set the layout. Select the source you want to reset or resize from the Source menu, then drag and drop the source into the stream preview box. You can resize it by dragging the circular icon in each corner, or just move it from one area of the screen to another.

Once satisfied with the Livestream layout and successfully configured OBS to stream via Twitch, the final step is to click Start Streaming in OBS and start broadcasting.
